Mactan-Cebu airport for relaunch of AirAsia’s hub in the Philippines
Mactan-Cebu International Airport has received a boost with AirAsia Philippines relaunching its Cebu hub, operating additional domestic services, as well as international services to Seoul and Kuala Lumpur.
“Every resumption of flight operations, every reestablishment of routes and every passenger arriving in Cebu is a celebration,” said Aines Librodo, Airline Marketing and Tourism Development Manager of GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC). “The resumption of the Philippines AirAsia hub in Cebu is a big celebration, and we will continue to hold hands with Philippines AirAsia, together with the local government of Cebu, the Ministry of Tourism and all tourism and travel stakeholders, to make pressure for the resumption of tourism in Cebu.
On August 16, 2022, AirAsia started operating four weekly flights to Cagayan De Oro and Davao, while Puerto Princesa begins on September 2, 2022.
Meanwhile, a thrice-weekly service to Seoul Incheon was launched on August 16, 2022, and a thrice-weekly service to Kuala Lumpur was launched on September 21, 2022.
“The reopening of our Cebu hub signifies AirAsia’s commitment to improving connectivity and providing the best options to customers, not only for flights, but also with our partner hotels, tour operators and merchants,” said Ricky Isla, CEO of Philippines AirAsia.
Today, AirAsia Philippines flies four times a day from Manila to Cebu and three times a week from Caticlan (Boracay) to Cebu.
