EDGE™ selected to renovate Gray Oaks estate

EDGE has announced that it has been selected to renovate a custom estate on Chinaberry Way within the prestigious community of Gray Oaks.

The lead interior designer for this renovation is Adriene M. Ged of EDGE, who works closely with architect Karen Velasco-Carter. The construction is carried out by Diamond Custom Homes.

“The original house had a heavy Tuscan design with a gated layout, original Turkish travertine marble flooring, carpeted bedrooms, and sweeping arches both inside and out,” said said Ged. “The new design will be what is called a ‘Med-mod’ (Modern Mediterranean) style featuring the traditional characteristics of a Mediterranean home with clean, modern elements. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work on this important project in partnership with Karen Velasco-Carter of Diamond Custom Homes.

Built in 2003, the residence features 3,925 square feet of air-conditioned living space and 5,562 total square feet on one level living with three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two half baths, an office, and ample living space. outside.

Guests enjoy the community of Gray Oaks; however, no buildable residential sites remain. Since the house has a good foundation, a new driveway and a new roof, the clients decided to renovate the existing residence.

Ged incorporated a contrasting black and white color palette, complementing the warmer tones of the existing roof and driveway colors, as well as the interior flooring selection.

The team demolished the interior decorative columns and decorative vaulted Venetian-style plaster ceilings in the foyer, replacing them with inverted drywall soffit beams while retaining some elements of the Mediterranean look. The travertine marble flooring was removed and replaced with Legno Bastone wide plank flooring. All bathrooms will feature clean, neutral white marble tiles. Plumbing and lighting will be updated from traditional polished brass fixtures to black and chrome fixtures. Furnishings will be comfortable, casual, family and pet friendly.

The original family room, located off the kitchen, is being converted into a new bar with a custom open display cabinet and charcoal oak finish upper cabinets.

The original dining room will be converted into an office or flex space, creating a space for the client’s family to socialize with their guests and friends. This area will also feature a custom built-in with contrast finished back panels, wood countertop, file drawers and LED-lit floating shelves.

The redesigned kitchen will feature a full-height slab backsplash all the way to the bar, providing a clean, cohesive look through the use of a single material. The cabinets will be very sleek and contemporary. The appliance wall will feature white and black cabinets. The island, the upper windows and the kitchen hood will be in natural walnut. The wine cellar will feature a vintage wine rack system, a varnished wooden counter and an open display for storing bottles. The bar will feature a chunky waterfall counter with sleek black cabinetry. The original French doors located outside the main area, where the current bar is located, will now be large sliders opening into the outdoor kitchen.

To accommodate clients’ wishes for a larger master bath and exercise space as part of the master suite, the team is redesigning the entire original study and powder room areas. The study space has been added to the main bathroom, with the powder bath redesigned to fit the new layout. The master bathroom will have a European-style shower, as well as matching floating vanities and towers with clean white cabinetry. A home gym will also be added to the master suite.

The outdoor living area will feature a tongue-and-groove ceiling, a full outdoor kitchen and a completely redesigned swimming pool. The outdoor living space will include a fire pit overlooking the 18th hole of the Palm Course, as well as a peninsula bar.

The project started in May 2022 and is expected to be completed in August.
