It’s exactly here on this social media giant that a British mother, Hollie Marriage, came across a hack for smelling dirty carpets that smell amazing.

Intrigued, Hollie decided to try the cleaning tip and was so impressed with the results that she shared the tutorial on social media.

According to her, as she demonstrated in the viral clipall you have to do is place a washing pod in a pot, then cover it with boiling water.

Once the pod was melted, she grabbed a kitchen towel and tossed it into the mixture a bit.

Once the cloth has absorbed the pod-infused water, remove it and lay it flat on a kitchen surface, before wrapping it around a pan lid.

To make sure it stays in place and doesn’t move, secure it with a hair tie.

Then the mum moved on to the actual cleaning process – which involved a lot of scrubbing using the lid.

After performing a circular motion for some time, Hollie was so pleased with the results that she wrote: ‘Girl, the smell is different.

“Wow, this is definitely part of my cleaning routine! ” the mother continued in the caption.

”Honestly, it smells good and makes your carpet nice. ”

But despite its positive comments, viewers remained divided, with many saying the hack was unsafe and could pose a health risk.

One person commented: ‘The pods have different sections meant to melt at different times in the wash, chemicals mixing together like that can be dangerous.’

Another agreed, writing, “I wouldn’t trust this lid with food again after this no matter how much I washed it.”
