The Drop Your Drawers campaign returns

The Drop Your Drawers campaign returns to the Campbell County Public Library for its seventh year in hopes of collecting 7,000 pairs of underwear, socks, bras and t-shirts.

Running from November through December, the initiative aims to address a critical need for Campbell County public schools: to keep stock of emergency socks and underwear from family resource centers so they can allocate funds to provide other valuable services.

Every month, schools distribute dozens of underwear and socks to children and teens who need them for a variety of reasons, including accidents, illness, homelessness, items not available at home, and disability. washing clothes or dressing properly.

New pairs of socks and underwear of all sizes in their original packaging can be dropped off at all library branches. New bras and t-shirts will also be accepted.

In 2021, the Campbell County community collected a record 15,169 pairs of new public school socks and underwear.

“We are very grateful for the community response to Drop Your Drawers, said JC Morgan, Director of the Library. “Year after year, our customers show up at Campbell County Public Schools to meet the critical, yet often overlooked need for access to clean underwear and socks that fit.”
