PHILIPPI — The annual Barbour County Chamber Golf Tournament was held Sept. 9.

The team of Zimmerman, Spotloe, McGee and Bowers take home the prize money of the annual Barbour Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Barbour Country Club. The finalists were from Barbour Community Health, including J. Rogers, T. Rogers, Bibey and Richardson. There were no Hole-in-One contest winners.

Larry Spotloe had the longest drive, Greg Zimmerman was closest to the pin, and Mike Richardson had the longest putt. Proceeds from the tournament fund student activities at Philip Barbour High School.

Participating teams included Snyder Industries, winners Greg Zimmerman, two teams from Country Roads Wellness, Cvechko Insurance, Arch Coal and Alderson Broaddus University.

The winning team won $500 in cash, the runners-up $300. Mountain Hospice, Cvechko Insurance, Country Roads Wellness, Barbour Community Health and Alderson Broaddus University donated several door prizes. Tyler Rogers won the 50/50 draw.

Hole sponsors included Dr. Tim and Ronda Barry, Alderson Broaddus University, Mountain State Quilting, Cvechko Insurance, Ed and Karen Larry, Sheriff Brett Carpenter, Dave’s Plumbing & Heating, Freedom Bank, Barbour County Development Authority, Snyder Industries, Arch Coal, Mullens & Mullens Attorneys, Country Roads Wellness, The Family of Dr. Terry Jones, Kaiser’s Coffee & Candy, Arch Coal and the Community Health Association. The latter provided Melissa Foy and Amy Chenoweth as witnesses for the Hole-in-One contest sponsored by Allegheny Insurance, which could have won $10,000.

Katherine and Lori Cunningham of Country Roads Wellness helped with registration, Broaddus Hospital provided lunches, Barbour Health Association drinks and the Barbour Country Club provided several important services. Mike Cvechko of Cvechko Insurance was master of ceremonies.

Free golf certificates presented as prizes were received from Stonewall Resort, Pipestem State Park, Tygart Lake State Park, Lake Floyd Golf Course, Canaan Valley State Park, Highlands Golf Course in Franklin and Holly Meadows.
